EIGHT BAMBOO
A Novel by Charles Elvin
Morio Tabata and James Hamilton on their first assignment together. Lives depend on them, and time is running out.
Within months of starting a new job James Hamilton has failed very publicly. Assigned to work with Morio Tabata, a secretive diplomat working for the United Nations with an interest in the unexplained death of three women, Hamilton is drawn into a hidden world to help find an organisation that was not meant to exist.
As the true nature of the situation starts to become clear, Tabata and Hamilton move from country to country following a trail which becomes increasingly dangerous. Helped and betrayed in their search, the two find they are risking their lives.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Charles Elvin is a former CEO, specializing in educational charities around the world.
Forced into early retirement at 51 due to advanced cancer, he now writes while he still can.
If possible, he will write more adventures for Tabata and Hamilton.
He lives in Oxfordshire, in the UK, with his family.
Charlie passed away on February 2, 2022.
Charlie was not only a dear friend but a wonderful creative mind with a sharp wit, brilliant sense of humor, and energetic enthusiasm. He may have moved on but we are lucky that his words live on. Please read his fantastic blog Half Life about his journey in dealing with cancer. It is truthful about cancer, but also witty and shares so many beautiful passages about life.
His novel, “Eight Bamboo” will always be one of my favorite books. I am grateful to have published it. His brilliant characters Tabata and Hamilton – a secretive diplomat working for the United Nations and an English policeman – will live on not only through his book but through the imagination. I can just imagine what adventures they will still go through. Can you?
Cancer sucks and takes so many. Will be looking into supporting causes that help fight this plague. Any ideas, get in touch.
Eight Bamboo is
Charlie’s first novel.
